Diwali "festival of lights"





Diwali is known as the “ festival of lights”. It is a five day festival which start on Dhanteras, celebrated on the 13th lunar day of Krishna paksha(Dark fortnight) of the Hindu calendar month, Aswin and end of Bhaubeej , celebrated on second lunar day of shukla paksha ( bright overnight) of the Hindu calendar month Katick. Diwali falls between mid-October and mid-November .  Diwali is an official holiday India, Nepal, Sri Lanka , Singapore and many more.
For Hindu’s Diwali is the one of the most important festival of the year. It is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in there homes or  at a temple. The name Diwali or Divali is contraction of “ deepavail” which means “row of lamps”. Diwali involves the lighting of lamps, filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. These lamps are kept on during the nights and one’s house is cleaned, both done is order to make the goddess lakshmi feel welcome. Fireworks are burst to drive away evil spirits.

Pratibha got 65.82% votes when she was elected. She had been widely expected  to win. Pratibha said to the reporters that she was always grateful to men and wome   of India. She was the first female president of India, she was also born in india.

The First Female Prime minister Of India




Indira was the 1st female prime minister of country.  She was the 2nd female prime minister of the world.  Indira was the 3rd prime minister in the country. She became prime minister in 1966. She was born on December 19 1917.Her mothers name was Kamla Nehru,her dad’s was Jawaharlal Nehru and her grandfather’s name was Motilal Nehru. Her father was the 1st prime minister of the country. Indira had a younger son and his name was Sanjay.

The first Indian women to climb Mount Everest

The first Indian women to climb Mount Everest was Bechendri Pal. This amazing task was achieved on May 23,1984.She was born on 1954 in Nakuri, village, Garthwal. Her first exposure to mountaineering was at the age of 12 years old. The first height she climbed was 13,123 feet high with several class mates at a picnic. After she finished her studies she joined the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering also known as the NIM. While at the NIM she climbed a height of 21,900 and 19,091 feet. She was the only women to complete the task out of eleven men and six women including her. When she climbed mount Everest she climbed a height of  29,028 feet. I think that this a an amazing achievement.

First Indian women to go to the moon


Sunita Williams was the first Indian women to go to the moon. She was born in Euclid, Ohio but her ancestors were from Gujarat. She was born on September, 19 1965.she graduated in 1983. She was an American astronaut and a United states Navy officer who holds the record for longest space flight by a women. She became the commander of the International Space Station on September, 17 2012 being only the second women to achieve the feat. She was selected for the U.S. Navel Test Pilot School and began the courses on January 1993. She was selected by the NASA in June 1998, began her training at the Jonson Space Center on August 1998.She has participated in six space walks during her astronaut career her total spent on space walks is 44hours and 2 minutes. This is also a amazing achievement
